About

.. there is much beauty to see along the way if one only takes the time to look.

I have always enjoyed the natural beauty of this area. The forests and the wildlife that surround us here are second to none.

I graduated from Kishacoquillas High School in 1973. With Penn State just over the mountain, I went on to earn a B.S. in Biology there, graduating in the Spring of 1977 from Main Campus.

I was born back in the mid-50’s, so I guess I am now approaching “fossil” status. I grew up playing in the woods, and I have lived and worked in rural Pennsylvania most of my life.

Early on, I aspired to work for the PA Game Commission. But as things turned out, an interest in law enforcement led me down a different career path, and I served as a sworn police officer for the Pennsylvania State Police. After 26+ years in that role, I retired in 2008 with an Honorable Discharge.
I must say that a career in law enforcement was an education in and of itself, and I now prefer to think that I hold a degree in Life. My perspective was shaped and honed by those years and those experiences, and the things that I was witness to, and I was left with a very keen appreciation of life, and by extension, nature.

Please allow me to add that the one lesson most deeply learned during those years was that life is fleeting, but also that there is much beauty to see along the way if one only takes the time to look.

And since I have had an ongoing interest in photography since my teen years, it was not much of a leap for me to combine that interest with my deep appreciation of the outdoors. The diversity of life, both plant and animal, never ceases to amaze me. The geography always impresses with its flowing waters and myriad formations.

In conclusion, it is my desire to capture what I see and to present it through the incredible medium of photography. I wish that I were a talented painter, but alas, that gene eluded me. So instead, I express myself through the lens of a camera. It is my fervent wish that my work will, in some small way, accentuate the natural beauty that surrounds us on this amazing Earth that we call home.
